How to download

Why Pinterest images are bigger than you'd expect
Unlike Instagram, Pinterest keeps the original upload and serves it in an 'originals' folder, so pins made from high-resolution photos can be 2000, 3000 or more pixels wide. The website shows you a resized version; this tool asks for the original file, in JPG or PNG as it was uploaded.
When a pin was saved from another website, the original is whatever that site served at the time, which explains why some pins are small.
Where the original image comes from
Pinterest serves each pin's picture from a path that names its size: /236x/ for thumbnails, /736x/ for the pin page, /1200x/ for large screens. The original upload sits at the same path under /originals/, and that is the file this tool asks for. When Pinterest never kept an original (some pins saved from other websites), the largest resized copy is returned instead, so you always get the biggest file that exists.
Boards, idea pins and the pins this tool cannot reach
One pin per link. A board address, a profile or a search result page holds no single image, so pasting one returns nothing: open the board, tap the pin and copy that pin's own link. Downloading an entire board is a different job, done by browser extensions that scroll the board inside your own logged in session and zip what they find. A link based tool has no session and no way to list what a board holds, so we do not pretend to offer it.
Idea pins give you the cover image, the one Pinterest shows as the pin's picture. The other pages of the story are not listed here, and if the page you want is a video, the Pinterest video downloader takes the same link.
Two more cases come back empty and both are the same reason. A pin on a secret board is served only to the accounts it was shared with, and a deleted pin no longer exists on Pinterest's servers. If the link opens for you in a private browser window, it works here.

Can I pick a smaller size instead of the original?
No, and that is on purpose: you always get the largest file Pinterest stores. Other tools list 236, 474 and 736 pixel copies alongside it, but those are just Pinterest's own thumbnails, and shrinking the original in any photo app gives you a better small picture than picking one of them.
Do I need a Pinterest account to save an image?
No. The pin page is public and the image comes from Pinterest's image servers; nothing on our side uses an account, which is also why pins on secret boards can't be reached.
Do pin.it links work?
Yes. Paste the pin.it link exactly as the Pinterest app copies it; we follow the redirect to the pin and fetch the original image from there.
Does the image pass through your server?
No. Our server reads the pin page to find the original file, and the image itself loads from Pinterest's servers straight into your browser. Nothing is stored, and the full link isn't logged.
What resolution do Pinterest images have?
Pinterest keeps the original upload; we request that version, often 2000 px or more.
Can I download a whole board?
No. Paste pins one by one; a board link isn't a pin and returns nothing. Open the board, tap a pin and copy its own link.
Does it work with idea pins made of images?
Partly. You get the pin's cover image, the one Pinterest shows as the pin's picture; the other pages of an idea pin aren't listed here.
Are the images watermarked?
No. Pinterest doesn't watermark images and neither do we.
What file format do I get?
JPG for most pins and PNG when the creator uploaded a PNG, taken from the largest size Pinterest stores. We don't convert or recompress anything.
How do I download a Pinterest image on Android?
Copy the pin link from Share, paste it here and tap Download. Chrome saves it to the Download folder and it shows up in your gallery. No app needed.
Why can't I download a Pinterest image?
The pin is probably on a secret board, was deleted, or the link points to a board, search or profile instead of a pin. Use a pinterest.com/pin/... or pin.it link to a public pin.
Is it legal to download Pinterest images?
Saving a public image for personal, offline use is generally fine. Reposting or selling someone else's work without permission isn't. Check the original source and respect the creator's rights.
