How to download
Open the Spotlight video in Snapchat, tap Share and choose Copy link. For stories, copy the link of a public profile (snapchat.com/add/username) from the profile's Share menu or from snapchat.com.

What Spotlight is
Spotlight is Snapchat's public video feed, similar to TikTok's For You page: short vertical videos submitted by users and visible to everyone, even without the app, through snapchat.com/spotlight links. Because those videos are public web content, they can be saved without any account.
Public profiles on snapchat.com also expose their current stories; paste the profile link and every live story is listed. Private snaps, chats and friends-only stories are not reachable, by design.
Quality and watermark
Snapchat serves Spotlight videos for the web as MP4 at 720p or 1080p without the username overlay the app adds when you save a snap from inside it. The file you get here is that clean web rendition, with the original audio.
Which Snapchat links work, and which don't
Three links reach a file here. A Spotlight link, snapchat.com/spotlight followed by a code, which is what Share copies from a Spotlight video. A public profile link, snapchat.com/add or snapchat.com/@ followed by a username, which lists every story that account has live right now. And the short links the app produces, t.snapchat.com and story.snapchat.com, which redirect to one of the first two.
Three do not. A snap someone sent you in a chat is not on the web at all: it exists inside the app, for as long as Snapchat keeps it. A story limited to friends or to a custom audience needs an account it was shared with, and our server uses none. And a link to the app store page, to a Lens or to a Map location has no video behind it. The quick test: open the link in a private window; if Snapchat asks you to log in, this page cannot reach it either.
Why a Snapchat download fails
Stories expire. A public story stays up for 24 hours from the moment it is posted, so a link copied yesterday often points at nothing today, and there is no archive to fall back on: the file has left Snapchat, it is not hidden. Spotlight videos last much longer, but their creator can delete one at any time.
The other frequent cause is the wrong link. Copy the address from Share inside Snapchat, or from the address bar with the video open on snapchat.com. A link copied from a search results page or from someone's bio points at the profile, not at the video, and the result says so instead of failing without explanation.
