Download videos from Twitter (X) on any device

   Copy the post link

   Tap the Share icon under the post and choose Copy link. x.com, twitter.com and short t.co links all work. If the post holds several videos, open the one you want first so the link points at it.

   Leave X's browser behind

   Tapping a link inside X opens the app's own browser, which cannot save files. Open Safari, Chrome or any browser you normally use and go to the Twitter (X) video downloader page there.

   Paste the link

   Put it in the box and tap the arrow. The post is read in a second or two, no account is involved on either side, and tracking tails on the link are ignored.

   Download the MP4

   One file comes back: the best rendition X serves for that post, up to 1080p, named twitter_ plus the post id. Under it sits the MP3 row, and a GIF post comes back as a real GIF.

In the X app the Share arrow sits under the post. Copy link puts an x.com address on the clipboard, sometimes with a ?s=46 tail you can leave alone. Open Safari yourself rather than tapping a link inside X, because the app's browser has nowhere to put a file.

Safari asks before saving, then writes the MP4 into Files, in Downloads, as twitter_ plus the post id, with the arrow at the top of the window showing the progress. Open Files, tap the video, then Share and Save Video: it is in Photos, under Recents.

One detail specific to X: a GIF post comes back as an actual .gif, which Files treats as an image, so the Share sheet offers Save Image rather than Save Video.

If you arrived from a link inside X, tap the three dots at the top and choose Open in Chrome; the download then has somewhere to go. From Chrome the MP4 lands in the Download folder and a notification follows the transfer.

Google Photos or Samsung Gallery lists it within seconds, ready to forward to WhatsApp or Telegram. Chrome sometimes flags an MP4 from a site it has not met before: open the downloads panel and tap Keep, because the file is a plain video.

Open the post on x.com and copy the address: the domain, the username, status and a long number. Links shaped x.com/i/status/ work too, because the post id is the part that matters. You do not have to be signed in to copy a public post's address.

The download link goes to X's video servers, so a browser may play the video in a tab instead of saving it. Right click the Download MP4 button and choose Save link as; the file then drops into Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut or PowerPoint without conversion.

A post can carry up to four media items, and the link remembers which video was open: on a computer the address ends in /video/2, /video/3 or /video/4, and on a phone the same information travels inside the shared link. Paste it and you get that video, with its own MP3 row.

Copy the link of the post that holds the video, not of a reply or a quote post that shows it. A quote post has no media of its own, which is why the result can say there is no video when you can see one on screen.

Protected accounts are closed to anyone who is not an approved follower, and this site never signs in, so those posts are invisible to it even while they are visible to you. Posts flagged as sensitive behave the same way, and deleted posts leave nothing behind.

Everything else that plays publicly on x.com comes down as one MP4, capped at 30 minutes and at the resolution the author uploaded, which is often 720p.

• Tracking tails such as ?s=46 or ?t= are harmless: paste the link exactly as X copied it.
• A GIF post has no sound at all, because X stores GIFs as short silent MP4 files.
• Bookmarks in X disappear with the post; a saved MP4 on your device does not.
• If you only need what was said, the MP3 row is a far smaller file than the video.
• Short t.co links from the app resolve here, so there is no need to open them first.
• For a thread with several videos, copy each post's link in turn; each one downloads separately.
