Instagram reel not downloading: causes and fixes
Instagram is stricter than TikTok: it hides more content behind a login and its share links change shape often. Almost every failed reel download falls into one of the cases below, in order of how common they are.

- 1Use a /reel/ or /p/ link
Links like instagram.com/share/… expire in hours. In the app, tap the three dots on the reel and choose Copy link; the result contains /reel/ followed by a code.
- 2Check the account is public
Open the link in a private window without logging in. If Instagram asks you to log in, the account is private and the reel cannot be downloaded.
- 3Age-restricted or sensitive reels
Instagram hides some reels behind a confirmation that requires a session. Those cannot be downloaded either.
- 4Leave the Instagram in-app browser
Copy the isaveall address and open it in Safari or Chrome; the in-app browser blocks downloads.
- 5Wait and retry
Instagram sometimes throttles requests for a short time. A retry after a minute usually works.
